Tuesday: Speed Session, Dentist, and Yoga

When my alarm went off his morning, I had no earthly idea why. I mean none. I turned it off, rolled over and was dreaming about Yogurt World when my husband, muffled in his pillow cave, said, "Aren't you getting up to meet Stephen?". At which point it all came back to me, and I hurtled out of bed like a track star and got my clothes on and got out the door.
Now, Stephen and I decided last night that we were going to meet at the rec center treadmills instead of running on the track, and I was totally glad of our decision when I got up, and it was snowing up a blizzard outside. So, I made it to the rec center reasonably on time and Stephen had saved me a treadmill and we started todays workout:
  • 800 warmup
  • 5 x 1600 meter repeats @ 7:03
  • one minute rest in between
  • 400 cool down
Confession: I was supposed to do at least a mile warm up and a mile cool down, but this never happens at treadmills workout. I am out of there after my last interval, and I just didn't warm up enough today.
It was a great workout, and though I was exhausted, I was glad to saunter in the house at 6:50 with 5 and a half miles under my belt. I had a nice baby free shower, and that means a lot to me. Oatmeal for breakfast and then off to the dentist.
Now, today represents a great triumph for me in that I convinced my husband to switch to my dentist, who is the greatest dentist in the WORLD. I have been seeing my dentist since I was FOUR, and even when I lived in Texas, I scheduled my teeth cleanings around my holiday visits at home. You can't let just anyone put their hands in your mouth.
Dr. Barkley is my dad's Sunday School teacher, a great mission worker, and volunteer at our state prison, who has helped many parolees get cars and begin life anew. He was also a frequent speaker at my High School's spiritual emphasis day. I respect him as a steward of life as well as a dental professional.
Anyway, on the drive home, I had a lovely cup of coffee and a fish taco for lunch, before heading in to work. This evening, Ivan is suffering from a cold and and unfortunate addiction to The Wiggles.

Swim tomorrow, and I am dreaming of a trip to Yogurt World.
