Thursday: Run, Trainer Ride, and Gilad

So today, I was up and out to run after breakfast. It is warming up, which is very thrilling, but I am just not running all that well right now. Just not as fast as I want to be and it may be because I am spreading myself rather thin with the swimming, the running, the speed work, the biking. Or maybe just not working any of those things hard enough, I am actually swimming faster, however. My bike has no choice to improve since I am riding at least once a week instead of a couple of times a year. So, maybe running is just slipping down the tubes.
At home, I took Ivan to practice his swimming. He is learning to kick and pull up on the wall. Along with being obsessed with The Wiggles, Ivan is obsessed with lollipops or as he says "pee pops". It is pretty hysterical, and he has no shame about discussing "pee pops" with anyone who will make eye contact with him. He has been shaming Donna and Mary Ann, who work at the front desk at the gym, by asking them hopefully for a "pee pop" every morning for the last week. If you say "hi" to Ivan, he will immediately ask you for a pee pop. I can only assume that this is the behavior of a hardened addict. Once, in San Francisco, a frenzied man approached my husband and I and said, "Hey, I need money for cocaine. I need money for cocaine. Can I have some money for cocaine?". When Ivan gets really amped up with "pee pop" desperation, I find myself thinking of that man in San Francisco.
Anyway, Ivan got a "pee pop" after swim practice and watched The Wiggles while he ate it. I feel this is his version of heaven.
When Ivan went down for a nap, I hopped on the trainer and rode a Spinervals workout. This was a new virtual reality Spinervals and I rode the Lake Placid Ironman course. It was not as cool as I thought, as most of the DVD was coach Troy yelling into the wind. Also, you did not ever have a rest, you were riding the course the whole time. It was probably great for me, but it was a hard workout. I only rode the trainer for an hour, and 15 minutes of this was cut out of the Garmin because I forgot to turn my watch back on when I got back on the bike after a bathroom break.
After the trainer, I got in a quick Gilad workout and headed in to work, where I had a Godiva meltdown. Godiva makes these m&m-esque chocolate balls, and there were some at work and I ate more than I can count. They were delicious.
Fabulous dinner at home and swim tomorrow!!!!
