So my day started at the 1:00 AM when Ivan woke up crying hysterically and, without thinking, I hurtled out of bed and picked him up. Now, according to all my sleep books, I am supposed to listen for a while, because he may have just had a hiccup in his sleep cycle. If I let him cry for a few minutes, he may go back to sleep and have a largely undisturbed rest. If I pick him up, he may stay up and and have miserable day tomorrow, because his infant rest cycle was disturbed. IT IS A SCIENCE.
Anyway, out of bed I lunged and picked up Ivan before I even thought. This resulted in his being fully awake and my being fully awake. I rocked him, which woke him up even more and then he said the most vile word of all.. "Wiggles". He was up and thought he might as well get in a Wiggle viewing, so I put him back to bed. He had a meltdown, and I let his dad handle it from there. I got back in bed at two something AM, and then my alarm went off at 5:20 AM for speed work.
I have no words to describe how terrible it was to have to get out of bed after the whole Ivan in the middle of the night incident. It was bad, so bad. I staggered around the kitchen and managed to shatter a glass on the floor. All of this happened before I even got to the track.
At the track today, my workout was shortened since I am running the Tom King this weekend. Workout as follows:
- mile warm up
- 4 x 800 at 3:10ish
- 400 jog in between each 400
- mile cool down
Aaaah, my nap was great!!!! Got in a really good yoga practice and enjoyed the baby shower.
