Thursday: Run and Trainer Ride

There are many reasons why my day was thrown off today, but the starting point was a a dead horse. We were down to one decrepit horse, named Rebound, at Sloan manor. Rebound had not been ridden in years and years, and I will just say that he might have been happier not being alive. I think he used to belong to my husband's uncle. Now after we returned from Thanksgiving, we did not see said horse for a while, and he apparently passed on. Today, approximately five days after the fact, said horse was to be buried. I will not use this blog as a platform to discuss the animal care and acquisition practices of my in-laws, but will suffice it to say that this morning, they ruined my run. The large animal burier, (is there a name for that profession?) came this morning at at the crack of dawn, before the baby woke up. Elliott had to be there to supervise the horse getting shoved into a hole, so for this reason, I could not run alone or with the baby.
Also, I was out of tea so I could not have a cup of tea while I waited and flipped through celebrity pictures on people.com. Long-story-short, I had to wait until after breakfast to take the baby for a run in the jog stroller. I did get in three and half miles, but had to go in after this as Ivan kept pulling off his cold weather gear to bare his feet and fingers. Then his fingers were frigid, and I got the guilt, and I had to run home. AAAhhhh the guilt, without it I would be a terrible mother.
At home, Ivan and I worked around the house and then went out to get a few new toys and mail a package. Remind me the next time I decide to buy new toys, that Ivan does not play with toys. He prefers anything not toy related and I wasted approximately 15 dollars today as surely as if I had flushed it down the toilet. He has played with a Swiffer duster, a spatula, and a tennis ball all day.
When Ivan went down for his nap, I crawled onto the trainer and road for a little over half an hour, then got showered and got ready for work. Today was my sitter's last day on the job and let me just tell you that I AM SHAKING IN MY BOOTS. I need another sitter by the end of the Holidays. I hate trying to find a sitter.
Wish me luck!! 5:45 AM bike class tomorrow.
