So today, it was more than chilly outside when we woke up and after my cold weather debacle yesterday, I decided not to run. Probably wise not to run anyway, as I needed some recovery after yesterday. This morning I sat around and knitted my sweater, which is knitting up just hideously, by the way. I am in the knitting doldrums. My projects just aren't going well. Needlepoint may be my true calling.
Eggs and turkey sausage were for breakfast, and Ivan went down for a nap at 11:30 AM, after which I hopped on the trainer for a 30 minute ride. During my ride, I tried to work on my posturing and sitting heavy in the seat and using my abs. If I could make all the posturing second nature, I think my cycling would improve ten-fold. It is not coming naturally, however.
After I climbed off the bike I got in a quick Gilad workout with lunges and ab-work and such. I was pretty proud and feel like a really accomplished something. Hopefully I will be on the bike two more times this week before my Friday morning bike class.
Now, after I finished up my workout, I began to get ready for the two parties we had this evening. Ivan stayed at home with his sitter, which allowed us to make-merry without being on suicide watch. First up was a welcome back reception for our minister, who has been on sabbatical in Jerusalem as well as being in Turkey following the missionary trail of Paul. How fascinating, right?? He had been able to live abroad for three months and talked a lot about the lifestyle of Jerusalem as compared to Turkey. It was all very interesting, and I think that I would really like to join a profession where I get a sabbatical. Nuns get like a 6 month sabbatical every 10 years. Honestly, if I had known about these sabbaticals, I might have chosen differently.
Our next party was the swim party. It was so much fun and included so much good food. I had two pieces of tiramisu!!! I love it!! Also, I played a brutal and back-stabbing game of dirty Santa from which I emerged victorious with a home pull up bar. I have coveted one for years and now I have my own. I just couldn't be any more thrilled. My goal is to do 10 chin-ups a day. I am so excited about the promise of my approaching upper-body strength. Yay!!
At home, I am avoiding my knitting, because it is going so poorly. Picture is the blurry unfortunate pic that I was hoping would by our Christmas card picture. No such luck!!

Great running with you on Saturday and seeing you and Elliott last night.
Ask Elliott if he has a recommendation on the best kind of trainer to buy.
Thanks.
